sketchlings...

I found my newest craftiness. Marieanne once showed me how to watercolor. After my frightful watercolor painting dried, I was pretty sure it wasn't meant for me. I'm sure sure of that.

Since I can't water color, I happily pull up gimp and "watercolor" using paint.

This little birdy had my doubts, but it turned out alright in the end. I love the "Winnie the Pooh" style shading - except this birdy was copied from The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Another Narnia inspiration - the lamppost. Despite it's severe leaning problems (due to drawing diagonally on the page), I thought it looked pretty cool. But not much like the original.

There's something relaxing about copying from other books - perhaps it gives your imagination a breather.

The girl to the left was my favorite. I took several attempts to create her. My first attempt had a Charlie Brown christmas tree, which left too much of her face.

Confession: I can't draw faces.

Most of my drawings have no faces. Or at least no nose. It's my one and only drawing tip I keep for myself - besides drawing with a fine point sharpy. I can't draw with pencil. Or marker. Or paint. Or anything. Not even computer.

What have you been working on?

  5. What have I been working on? Nothing as exciting as yours (unless you call Algebra exciting...)

Well, actually, I'm enjoying Algebra at the moment. It's been difficult, it's been mind-boggling at times even, but I can truthfully say also, that it's being fun =) And that is no joke; just ask my family. They'll even tell you that...

  7. What have I been working on? Nothing as amazing as this! Seriously, Bethany, you have talent. And even though you're reading this over my shoulder as I type it, it bears saying.

I can't pick which one I like best...the wreath. The Christmas balls. The birdie. The leaning lamp of Pizza. All of them.

  10. @ M&M - that is completely not true!! You're the person who inspired me to start sketching. ;)

To all who asked, I simply drew out my sketches with a fine tip sharpy and scanned it on the computer. I put a gimp paintbrush slightly transparent and "painted" the sketches. :)
