messy marvin | art inspirations

I was flipping the pages of an old Family Fun magazine, when I suddenly stumbled upon an add for Tyson's Chicken (or something like that). What caught my eye was the adorable little kid licking the plate clean. I was caught in a flurry of inspiration, and so with a pencil that needed to be sharpened and a few of my sister's "special art" tools; I quickly sketched away.
So, I'm just a little bit proud of my first-ever-sketch-that-looked-somewhat-decent. So proud, that I went on pinterest and found at least fifty photos to choose from for my next sketch.

And lets just say...it went downhill from there:
Yes, so her mouth is rather strange looking, and the shading was rather choppy...just forget the mouth and say it looks beautiful. I never said I was an artist, and I definitely learned that I'm not a good sketcher either.

Well, on the agenda for the week is my picks from my sister's senior photos (!!), a new blog design (that's a big maybe, since it's not going too well...), and some indepth posts if I get around to writing them! Oh, and possibly a tutorial in there (*winks*)

And now, have a lovely day and go find something creative to do!

  1. Naw- they're all really pretty! I've always wished I could sketch but have found myself picking up the pencil more and more lately... If mine could look like yours, I'd be quite content :-)

  5. Well. *coughs* Actually, I did trace the plate part of the sketch. ;) Or else he would've been holding a floppy something-or-other. ;)
