and then i got a care package

I don't normally post twice a day - but when I do - it's important. I was going to write a witty blog post about my miserable week with a perpetual high fever and hacking cough, complete with the sob story of how I lost my chapstick and spent an agonizing night with broken lips. It was very traumatic, believe me.

Things just kept getting worse. My fever returned after it "disappeared", I couldn't go to play practice (the highlight of my week), I couldn't go up North with my best friend for her birthday, I couldn't eat for fear of...well, you know, and I couldn't even study for that dreaded science test because sick minds can't comprehend the peripheral nervous system. And I didn't sleep a wink because I was wrapped in a heating pad but still shivering from the cold and burning with an obnoxious fever that refused to go away.

I sat on the kitchen floor (it's actually quite comfortable) moaning to my mom about how sick I was of being sick, and I just want to sleep through the rest of the week without feeling awful. And I ate delicious tortilla soup which tasted so horrible that I nearly lost my lunch and the breakfast that I managed to keep down. I was feeling very self-pitying.

And then the doorbell rings.

In walks my a sweet friend down the road with two mysteriously wrapped things and the message of, "I have a surprise for Bethany!"

For me? Oh, you've got to be kidding. If I wasn't so floored I would've been bawling. She handed them to me, I gave her an air hug - and she promptly left.

I was giddy with excitement and discovered the most beautiful pink flower ever, and a box full a goodies complete with the most charming note ever.

And you'll never guess what was in the box. This is just too good to be true:

I'm not even kidding. Plus, there were tissues of my very own, an itunes gift card, chocolate kisses (those will have to wait), and socks. I never felt more loved in my entire life!! Totally made my day.

Now, complete with a huge book crammed full of pure Hercule Poirot genius, I think I'll be able to tolerate being sick for another two days.

  1. Awww, hope you'll be feeling better soon! It seems like everybody has been sick lately...something must be going around. :(

Care packages are the best. :) I'm sure Lindsey's (right?) gift will help you on to a speedy recovery!

  2. So sorry to hear you've been sick. That's absolutely no fun...

    Care packages are awesome, though!
