*No pianos were harmed in the making of this film. This is NOT an actor portrayal. This is the real deal folks.

P.s. I really do know how to count to 4. I think.
P.P.S. Yes, I was playing along with a CD.
P.P.P.S. No, I don't normally play jazz/swing music on the piano.
P.P.P.P.S. Yes, I don't know what I'm doing.

  1. I love, love, love this vlog.

Especially the glissando part. (I tried one and almost killed my fingers...never again..)

And the "common response to errors" part. I can totally relate to all of them, actually.

:) The pieces you're playing sound really amazing, are they for the play or...?

  2. Amazing? Well. They're still under intense MIUWF (Music I Unfortunately Will Practice Forever). And most of them were for the play. . . I think. :)

  3. Oh Bethany, this video made me feel so much better about my own piano playing (well, so-called playing)! And I must be getting close to professional status, because I do all of those same things when I mess up!

But please tell me that this video is mirror image. It's messing with my brain.

  4. You're the most adorable self-taught piano player ever! And I can say that because I'm you're mother. And we family members will all have MWWHIOHF: (Music We Will Hear In Our Heads Forever).

  5. You make me laugh every time you post something. :)
I was really confused about the page flip part until I realized the the video was flipped. I was like, "Why is she flipping her pages backwards?" #sleepdeprivedblogreader

  6. @ Mrs. Green - yes, the video is flipped. . . thanks to the high-quality webcam I used. :)

@ Mama - not only hear forever - but dream forever as well. Between the crazy books I've been reading and piano playing, I've had dreams about hiding in garages and rescuing babies from evil archers while Anne of Green Gables plays merrily in the background.

  7. Ohmygoodness. You are hilarious! And by the way, the piece at the end was really pretty.
