Airplanes & Freedom's Foundation, PA

On the eve before I left for PA, my daddy printed off a map of the Philadelphia airport.
Holy guacamole with cheesecake on the side. That place is huge.

After a two-hour delay (I passed the time talking to a really sweet boy on the phone) I got to see just how huge the Philly airport was.

Yes, I got lost. I managed not to start blubbering (shocking, I know) and I bumped into two really sweet older ladies (who were also lost) and asked if I could tag along with them. Somehow - I don't even know how - we found the baggage claim.
And then I spent about three more hours with with a bunch of epic people at the airport waiting for the shuttle bus that got stuck in traffic.

(BTW, Philadelphia and Valley Forge are both gorgeous.)

Between all the speakers, the tours (Independence Hall - phew. Amazing), the student led activities (talent shows & dance parties...fun stuff!) and the really delicious food - it was all worth the three hour delay back home.

I honestly don't really remember what happened this past weekend, because I lost my voice and any leftover sanity that I used to have.
But I do remember laughing.
And talking with 46 kids from different states.
Staying up forever with my roomie from Arizona.
And I did (finally!) figure out how to conquer my fear of airports, pass through awkward TSA checks and follow the unhelpful airport signs to the baggage claims.

  4. Yikes! I don't like the sounds of getting lost in an airport at all. But I'm glad you found your things and had a good weekend anyway!

  6. Oh my word! I got really excited when I saw this! I had no idea this blog was yours when I went to DC with you...I hadn't been on in a while, so I guess I didn't make the connection, but I've been following your blog since before DC! (This is Oregon... I wasn't able to make it to valley forge).
