love according to pinterest 0_0

** WARNING: THIS POST IS COMPLETELY DRENCHED IN SARCASM. DON'T JUDGE. **

News flash, I get to camp counsel this week! As I prepared my cabin devotions, I knew for sure that I wanted to give one on 1 John 4:7-11. In order to contrast the Bible's philosophy of love and the world's philosophy on love, I looked up (exactly) "WHAT IS LOVE" on pinterest for ideas. The results were spit-out-my-morning-coffee hilarious. Enjoy.

Em. Who...who? Just WHO wrote this? Poor girl. I died when I saw this.
(sorry for the blurriness)

Mmhmm. And then it's dinner time. And we don't eat eyeballs. Ew.

What does that even mean? Enough with the run-on sentences!!

Uhhhh....that's nice. So what about terrorists? Don't judge their actions people.

Hello. True love is giving them orange starbursts!

Oh my. That's just totally awkward. I think I laughed so hard that coffee came out of my nose. I'm glad we're now comparing love to lipstick and mascara - the truly important things in life.

Hm. This creepily reminds me of the old practice of couples being burned together after the husband died. And then it just reminds me of the Hunger Games. But I suppose that's a whole new realm of "true love" philosophy! If he learns camoflauge while decorating cakes....it's true love...

Isn't that nice. Make sure you put paper hearts in your piano before finding true love.

The best love is being selfish - OKAY! GREAT! Hey, but brownie points for actually being a quote about love that doesn't include guy + gal relationships.
And then I have to save the best for last...because we all know that it's completely true...

  4. Aren't you comparing apples and oranges? The love referenced in 1 John 4:7-11 is the love for your fellow man, your neighbor. The Bible speaks to romantic love as well. And some of what is written is ... hmmm ... not meant for kids.

Is there anything really so wrong with the irrationality and silliness of romance?
