we got a couch!

Once upon a rainy day, my mountain-man-bearded-bro made us the owners of the Bergmann family couch that has been passed along through the years. Here it is in all it's plaid glory!

While plaid makes me throw up, I'm super excited that we have something for more than one person to sit on. Aidan dramatically draped his beloved puzzle-piece childhood quilt on top to add to the mismatched living room decor style. ;)

In all dead sincerity, I'm SET on making a slipcover or just throwing in the towel and completely reupholstering (it involves staple guns - my favorite!) No way Jose am I going to stand a plaid couch with stains all over it for too long. My OCD will kill me. I'm still in the process of convincing my other half that I am capable of such a project (I think.)

I'm also going through withdrawals, missing my big empty living room...and now my brain really wants to whiten it up a bit. We have a lot of raw wood furniture pieces that I'm itching to distress into a nicer wood tone or just sand + spray paint white. Eep.

I'm pretty sure that will never happen. But I can dream, can't I?

Also, I can't get over my 50% discount at work. Salted Caramel Mocha Latte? Um. Yes. *happy dance*

  1. Lol! I don't like plaid either, but better than nothing, right? ;)

    1. @ Josephine - It may be an eyesore, but it's absolutely WONDERFUL. I don't have to sit on our bed anymore for all my sitting down projects. ;)

  2. Happy for you! I think it looks great. In your quest to redecorate, just stay away from hot glue guns.

  3. Congrats! That is quite exciting! I know how you feel though...I have a raggedy old love seat in my room that needs help. I'm so awful at DIY's, I probably end up just throwing a sheet over it or something. haha!

    1. @ Hannah - OKAY. For REALS. Once you're actually around on afternoons *ahem* I will have you over for coffee and we will sit on the couch, okay? ;) And I'll tell Aidan that you're up for it. He thinks I'm crazy. In fact, he informed me there was no way HE was going to get tangled up in a couch reupholstering project. ^_^
