I Hate Cooking | Vol. Uno

There are no words left to describe how much I hate cooking.
Cooking, as one daily action, is actually tolerable. But the real cooking is always a combination of the following:

  • MONOTONOUS MEAL PLANNING
  • SPENDING $$$$$$$$$$ ON FOOD BECAUSE ALL FOOD IS OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE EXCEPT FOR REALLY GROSS RAMEN NOODLES.
  • MOUNTAINS OF DOOM OVERFLOWING WITH DISHES
  • GREASE. EVERYWHERE.
  • SMELLY TRASHCANS THAT WON'T STOP STINKING.
  • BLAND NOODLES.

I absolutely without apology hate cooking.

So, the fact that I'm about to go grocery shopping and planned out five meals according to our schedule is pretty far too amazing to be real.

Cheers and be thankful for moms.
Because their food actually tastes good.

  1. Moms are superheroes. I love cooking, but of course only when I'm not buying the food. XD
I don't mind dishes too much, though, as long as I have a good audiobook/album on my phone to listen to while I scrub... #earbudsforthewin

  2. I'm doomed. If you can't handle cooking -- you, the domestic queen -- I AM LITERALLY GOING TO DIE. Good thing Erich's doing most of the cooking.....*phew*

Actually, though, I'm super excited about making Velveeta mac and cheese this weekend! #sohealthy

  3. I hope you find a system that works for you so you don't hate it so much. I think you're on the right track with planning out 5 meals a week in advance and to aid in your grocery shopping. Fine tune several meals that you both like and rotate them. You don't have to come up with new and fancy recipes each week (unless you want to). Alternate meat, pork, chicken, and meatless nights (beans, eggs, cheese dishes, etc.) Balance more expensive meals with meat with frugal meals (beans and rice; soup with just a little meat for flavor). You probably know all this already!

Eating is a daily, ordinary thing. I think that's why Jesus taught us to pray to the Father to give us this day our daily bread--to receive with thanksgiving everything he provides for us and with dependence upon Him. I would add that we wives who are usually the preparers of food to ask God to give us daily strength, creativity, and joy when preparing those meals!

    Love you!
